Through GIRL GANG, we’ve had the opportunity to come across so many remarkable humans who are pushing the bounds of their respective industries. We started this series to form a space to tell these creatives’ stories, celebrate their work and share their advice for anyone who’s curious about how they got to where they are.

Gabby is a multidisciplinary artist based right here in New York. She is an animator and illustrator working primarily in the music video realm. Gabby has been working with GIRL GANG for dare we say, YEARS NOW and we are so grateful for the incredible work she has collaborated with us on and most of all, her friendship. We are so excited for the opportunity to show her off to the community!

kyo pang

Kyo is the Restaurateur, Founder and Executive Chef of @kopitiamnyc, a Malaysian restaurant currently located in Chinatown, NYC. Kyo’s been featured in Bon Appetit’s list for The Hot 10: Best New Restaurants 2019, she has received raved reviews in The New York Times and The New Yorker, she was named Eater NY’s Chef of the Year in 2018 and has been nominated for 2 (not just 1 but 2) James Beard Awards (2019, 2020). Impressed? WE ARE TOO! Kyo is the coolest! We are so excited to share her story with you!!

Gabrielle is a designer, illustrator, & tattoo artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Throughout her journey of becoming the human being she is, Gabrielle created GENTLE ORIENTAL - an alter ego & personal practice about making sense of Asian diasporic identity through visual art.

Aliyah is a multidisciplinary fine artist who specialized in textiles. She has always had a number of creative outlets, being constantly inspired by everything and nothing. Tanya is the definition of not fitting into one box or sticking to one craft. Classifying herself as an artist, engineer, and entrepreneur, Tanya hopes to “transform the human experience through mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and technologies that don’t even exist yet.”

Abby Govindan is a 22 year old stand-up comedian and writer based in New York City. She made her comedic debut at the age of 20 at Caroline’s on Broadway and hasn’t looked back since.

Blair is a Xicanx actor, bandleader and dancer based in New York and Los Angeles. Blair was raised deep in the heart of Texas. She delved into the world of art and performance in her late teens and has never looked back since. With a soulful voice and love for rock & roll, her goal is to bring a fresh, freaky energy to the stage.

Sangeeta is an activist, writer and speaker based in London, United Kingdom. She is also the founder of Soul Sutras, a South Asian feminist network with a focus on dismantling cultural taboos and misconceptions within and outside of the community. Sangeeta is also the creator of podcast ‘Masala Podcast’ and a series of writing workshops called ‘Masala Monologues’ that have been performed at theatres in the UK.

Daen is a seafood fanatic and has had a passion for food her entire life. She develops recipes that are inspired from growing up in a multicultural food loving family, the places she has lived and traveled, as well as local Australian ingredients. Daen works to make seafood more accessible to the average home cook.

Christina is an Alabama born but LA based award winning director. Her work spans both the narrative and branded space, having grabbed the attention of clients such as Tinder, Snapchat, Crayola and major music labels such as Terrible Records and Sony Music. Chrstina strives to make Cassavetes for people of color. She also strives to keep her nose clean and to eat more veggies.

Leeza is a tattoo and mixed media artist, while Mia is a video producer + creative content director. Mia helps manage clientele and events, while also designing and creating art and video work. Their mission is to advocate for mental health, LGBTQIA+ and body positivity

maryah greene

Maryah is a New York based plant stylist & doctor. Growing up in the suburbs of Japan, Maryah became enamored with the way the Japanese culture admires, cares for, and honors indoor spaces. When she moved to New York, Maryah started to cultivate green in her own spaces and due to popular demand, began the platform that we now know as Greene Piece. Today, Maryah has solidified her position as one of New York’s go-to plant stylists.

Logan is a sound editor and mixer based in the Los Angeles area. After graduating from Emerson College, they worked at a series of places until recently (last year!!) when they started their own company, Rogue Post and delved into the crazy world of freelance.⁣

Kayla was awarded the Gertrude Shurr Award for excellence in modern dance and passionate dancing. Both independently and through companies, she has worked as a rehearsal assistant and teaching artist, instructing at various programs including The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch Dance Program, and local dance organizations and studios, and beyond.

Abby T is a Ghanian-American independent singer-songwriter who does it all. not only does she DJ but she is a multi-instrumentalist whose jazzy influences shine through in her songwriting and production. known for her unique and energetic performances, Abby T engages in storytelling that conveys musical truths in the most honest + relatable way.

Graysha Audren is a textile designer with a focus on sustainable innovation. She believes good designers are problem solvers at heart with the power to invoke change, disrupt systems, and design out inefficiencies.

Kristen is a professional dancer, trained in tap, jazz, ballet and hiphop. She’s danced for the Brooklynettes for three seasons now and has performed all over the world.

Tina’s a lot of things: an artist, illustrator, web developer, avid bread eater and more. We’re excited to share with you her artistic journey + how she came to fine tune her design style and pick up some cool skills in coding and wire framing along the way.⁣
